GEM - GEM at Sea, calm conditions on day 2, Noon update Wed 11/5

After much swearing and teeth clenching our onboard IT expert Jay has resolved the Iridium/Ocens email link so now we have weather and can send this blog. Covered 191 miles in first 24 hours :-). Fantastic sailing and weather Tuesday, everyone in shorts and tee shirts. The second 24 will be around 165 due to light winds and motoring for last 12 hours. Crew adjusting to the rhythm of life at sea. Craig and Jay are cooking, first night we had veg lasagna which we had purchased, second night Craig made pasta with veggie meatballs.

Tonight it’s Jay’s turn with Chicken. No serious issues onboard either mechanical or human except for a water pump that won’t turn off. Jim took the sensor off and adjusted it, seems to have improved things. Grant was a little queezy but seems to have recovered. Wed noon Air Temp is 76, last night was much warmer, stood watch from 2-5 am in light clothes.

Jay and Craig made a Roti for breakfast with potatoes, onions, peppers and eggs. This am we spotted small whale about 200 yards of the bow, never got closer so we couldn’t identify type. The sea is alive !!!

We probably have another 12 hours of motoring then expect some squalls tonight, nothing serious and at least it brings wind. Hope to update tomorrow.

Our thoughts go to all of our friends and family...
