Aspen - Log 21 Saturday 14 Dec; Rainbows and Squalls

There are never two days alike at sea. It just doesn't happen. Today
we have rainbows glistening just off Aspen's stern. The colors must be
a harbinger of better weather? Probably not since the nice pretty
colors signify a squall is attached to it!

We try to keep our weather eye looking behind Aspen. That is where the
enormous breaking seas and squalls come from. The squalls bring rain,
high winds and even larger seas most of the time. At least it is a warm
rain!

So when a squall approaches we hurry to reef the sails as the wind
climbs even more than normal. So far we have not seen over 35 knots in
the squalls but again, nothing remains the same at sea!
