Free Spirit - Fish are biting!! (but what type?) Free Spirit (62)

Hooray, we've finally hooked a good sized fish, our third on the rally and our first real keeper (although Chris claims the kiddies we caught would have warranted cooking - one wriggled free so he earned his freedom, and the other was donated back to the Atlantic!!). This one was wound in by Mark, dispatched by me with our cockpit manual bilge handle by me, skillfully :) filleted by Mark and Aaron and cooked for dinner in a red-Thai curry, fresh protein went down very well!! Lure was squid-like - we're running low on these now (we're clearly snagging some big ones that got away lol!!), so we're going to have to start fashioning them out of paper-clips and tin-lids, true survival style!

Much calmer sailing now, fine and sunny with northerly winds 5 - 7 knots veering around towards what we've all been waiting for, the steady easterly trade winds which are forecast to settle in Tuesday, high anticipation for that, we're imagining 15 - 20 knots spinnaker up the rest of the way! We're running our assymetric spinaker at the moment when wind permits, boat speed is exceeding wind speed at times, seems magical when that happens. Other photos posted today are pre-departure at Las Palmas, hope you enjoy them!

Cheers, Alistair
