La Rochelle - la rochelle finally busted through

At around 8 pm last night we finally busted through the hole and found a sailable breeze after motor sailing for the last 3 and a half days.thank god as it was doing our heads in, stooging along at 5.8 knots.

We started with 250 litres of fuel and still have have around 60 litres left. It will be very interesting to top the tank up in s/l and calculate the final consumption, but we are guessing around 1.9 litres per hour. The "green death" has done a wonderful job, never missing a beat. Guess all that motor sailing in the med has paid off.

The breeze swung last night as forecast from wnw to nnw allowing us to crack sheets, and didn't "the shell" love it , effortlessly accelerating to the low 7's in 10 knots of breeze at 40 degrees apparent in a nice flat sea. The "humm" has finally returned - The sound "the shell" makes approaching hull speed.

At 11pm last night louvre was complaining of weather helm in 14 knots of breeze, so we put in a tuck, and came down to a no2 headie to take the " sting" out of her. Louvre was much happier now.

Last evening we had a wonderful pre- prepared meal of beef strog.(very tasty), Thanks to our absolutely fantastic waeco freezer and head chef.

The breeze should now stay in all the way to s/l and gradually swing to the n/e and build., yee-ha kite time.
Cheers from all on la rochelle
