Adina - Starting, Squalls and Stars

Adina slipped lines at 12.05 on her planned journey across the Atlantic. Onboard are Tom, Susie, Lindsay, Neil and Gareth. Leaving was tremendous fun with crowds lining the marina walls waving, and a band playing, as we joined in blasting our fog horn. Susie touched us all waving to her parents shouting "Bye Mum, Bye Dad!".

Then off to the start line and the competitive spirit has not left Skipper Tom as we had a decent crack at the start line followed by some good boat-on-boat action. It felt just like the Round the Island boat race back in England! A squall then treated to us 25 knots of wind and a good soaking - now we were doing the Hamble Winter Series! Up stepped Lindsay Cunningham to the helm and with good winds the 'Guest Record' onboard Adina was shattered as we hit 10.6 knots.

However after a stunning sunset, the winds dropped, and we started to wallow - Adina needs wind to move! Still it was a good night with a wonderful display of stars and all around the mast lights of yachts twinkling. A slow night and dawn with little wind, indeed we were upwind for around 5 hours. We're keeping it simple in terms of sails until we get our sea legs. Forecast is for light winds - we're heading south to try and find the treasured trade winds. Today's bit of fun - which of our crew members is a 'Strictly come dancing' fan?? Answers in a bottle popped in the ocean please.
