Hanami II - Las Palmas

Hanami II is now on her berth in Las Palmas, waitting for the second time for the ARC start.
This time it will be ARC+, that's a bit different from the 2011 ARC as we will sail to Cape Verde first.

There are a few thing that don't change: electrial problems are one.
One among others but a real pain in the neck as they are sometime difficult to diagnose, may have lots of reasons and are usually expensive too fix.

As in 2011 we arrived with a dead alternator, the house bank one. The cause of the failure is a set loose connections that despite a detailled rewiew remained un-noticed before leaving.
Lots of people question the need for a spare alternator and prefer to have replace;emy parts. Our experience does prove that spare parts aren't enough as what failed this time could not be fixed by small parts replacements like brushes and so on. The whole stuff has to changed. A bit expensive in Las Palmas but no alternative solution.

The lesson we learn is that connectors should not be just tightened with specific pliers but WELDED. Boat electricians don't usually do this but we should.

For the rest of the story, evething is great here: sun, temperature, people, food and of course the Sailor Bar.
All the best to all who will read this.
