This is not good. last night I had to wear trousers, a jumper, a jacket and some things called socks. Most strange. We are just not used to this! Still, it was bound to happen. There is much work happening aboard Mad Fish today. I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to repair the steaming/deck light, Emma and the kids are making pirate costumes down below ready for the party.
The breeze has dropped a little so we have the spinnaker back up. We have 135 miles to go and should be finishing tomorrow at dawn so this will be my last blog on this leg. For those wondering, we did do a lot of engine hours. We turned it on during the first evening and motored for 56 hours. However, to save fuel we only used 2000 rpm, enough for almost 5 knots. the rest of the speed came from whatever wind we could catch. We still have 1/4 tank of fuel plus 40 litres in cans so maybe we should have used more throttle.
