First Arrivals in Bermuda

13 May 2015

The rally team arrived here Monday night in beautiful Bermuda. There was not much rest time for the team because the first boats are due in at noon today! (Wednesday the 13th) Boats have had a great sail north from the BVI with steady SE or E winds at 15kts. The first boat to cross the line, Intrepid Elk, has traveled the entire 850nm in just around four full days time. Intrepid Elk has been traveling neck and neck with another catamaran, Alia Vita for the entire passage. They will soon both be greeted with cold Dark and Stormy’s, hot showers, and wonderful Bermudan weather.

By the end of the day, there should be in total 3 catamarans and 4 monohulls that have arrived. There is an exciting list of events here in Bermuda that include happy hours, a Pirate party on Saturday, and a Gosling’s rum tasting and prize giving on Sunday. The boats traveling east from Portsmouth have set sail this morning and should be arriving around Sunday, weather permitting.
