Rodney Bay swells as the ARC settles in Saint Lucia

13 December 2013

The ARC 2013 has more than come alive in the last 24 hours as 82 rally boats have now successfully crossed the finish line in Rodney Bay and made their way through the cut into the marina. On arrival, all crews have been met by the rally team who have helped the mooring procedure as many crews after such a long passage at sea are sometimes a little out of practice and appreciate support when berthing. The Saint Lucia Tourist Board meet each yacht once safely tied up and offer them a ice cold rum punch and a Welcome hamper stuffed with fresh local fruit and a bottle of rum ‘all we need for the next few hours!’ – Jan Bon, Easy Rider

The ARC Village is now in full swing with colourful stalls open to the ARC participants each offering something different. There are local souvenirs being sold, some great food stalls serving everything from fine local Caribbean food, Indian Cuisine and even typical Japanese Sushi. Live music is also bellowing from all corners of the marina, really adding to the lively atmosphere. The real epicentre of social activity is the Board Walk Bar perfectly situated in the middle of the Marina with a great terrace view of all the docks. Participants typically gather there, and share their tales of time at sea over a cold Piton beer.

Tonight, all ARC participants are invited to a Creole Party in the ARC Village followed by the great live band Evo-Lucian from 20:00. We expect it to be a very nice atmosphere with some top reggae music from one of the island’s best known bands.

We expect a further 25 yachts in over this afternoon and through the night so a very busy weekend ahead. We look forward to welcoming you all very soon.
