Berenice by TWT - Day 9 - Tradewinds??

We took off again last night before midnight. A gentle breeze of 4 to 5 knots started filling in and so did the sails. The code 0 did its job and we were pushing through at 4-5 knots for an hour or so, then slowly the breeze built up to 6 and so did our speed.

By early morning we had about 8-9 knots and we hoisted our A2 for the first time in this crossing and we dropped it about an hour later, when it torn apart about a third from the mast head rendering useless for the rest of the crossing... it was a lovely hour though!

Then our loyal friend the A4 came up and we've been sailing with it since 9 am this morning (monday morning that is) and most probably will do so for a few more hours telling from the wind forecast.

Speeds have been good all day today and I've just finished my watch with the wind strenghtening up to 20 knots and Berenice sailing constantly at 12-13 knots and again planning at 15-16 knots every now and then.

We had a couple of fish strikes today when we were sailing at about 8 -10 knots, but I haven't seem a fresh sashimi in front of me yet, so shame on the fishermen on board (I think that includes me though).

Not much more to report from here... good fishing to all the fleet!

Fishless Berenice

PS: ah, it does feels quite tropical we have to say. The breeze is warm and dense with humidity, night shifts require only short and a t-shirt... not too bad!
