Ntanda - Blog day 7 - Fruit cake

Sorry we missed a day yesterday, I cant even remember what or why that may have been. If it was anything like today then rest assured we had a bit on.
Oh today was unofficially half way for us so we celebrated with some awesome homemade fruit cake - beautiful!
Another busy day for us on the good ship Ntanda, with a busted vang/boom joint to contend with. This is doubly annoying as we have had this 'fixed' twice already; once in Hamble by HSY then again when in in Las Palmas pre-departure and the fitting that connects the kicking strap/vang to the boom sh*t itself today anyway...BOOM... Thanks guys.
After spotting it we dropped the main and set about jury rigging anopther vang out of spectra, all very heath robinson but so far seems to be holding. Whilst the main was down we took the chance to sort out some bad chafe on the mainsail and re-splice some sheets and guys and where back up and running in the afternoon. Up went the Asymetric and off we stonked.
We changed to the symetric spinnaker late afternoon before dusk and all was well with the world until the spinnaker pole decided to let go not once but twice. Anyway yet again the crew responded well and we got the thing down and went back to poled out heady.
This is starting to get a bit annoying now, evrytime we feel like we are getting into the race we have a drama with kit on board and end up having to slow down - pesky indeed!
Other news.....changed my shirt and shorts today and managed to avoid any further flying fish attacks. Yes I've been twatted in the head and face twice in 2 days by the blighters and you can imagine the comments - 'how could they miss' etc etc (I've got a big head, its an and easy target what can I say?)
TTFN
Tack.
