Orion - Week 1 Monday 3rd

Orion continues surfing the waves of the southern part of the north Atlantic as she should be. Today we had an encounter with another boat, but we eventually headed with different bearing towards same destiny...St Lucia.

Crew has having fun over the last few days washing hair, making the laundry and other personal but basic stuff. We are hoping the weather will be in our favor now and we will start catching up position in our division and category.

This is fun indeed. DOMINGO

We saw lots of small dolphins on Sunday, playing round the boat and leaping out of the water; another leap was by a flying fish onto the side deck of the boat during the night watch. There was no moon last night so the stars were clear and the phosphorescence was sparkling bright; stunning!

Doing a broad reach into complete pitch dark was weird as there were no lights and no visible horizon, then we had to reef in because the winds picked up but with both watches on deck it was no problem.

Team work, Barbara.

After 1200 miles under the keel a few problems surfaced and I think we have found solutions for all, however for the next few days we will not be sending personal emails because of an electricity shortage. Watch the blog.

Our fixes across the chart shows the hard work of the crew is paying dividends, last night it was 3 yachts that got left behind. We had great luck with the fishing and had a 1.5 meter tuna that broke the hook 5 meters from being landed. Its always the 'big one that got away!'

Keith.

The weather is nice. Our team are perfect! Our skipper is exellent. We are going to our aim- St. Lucia!

No problem! Alex.
