Ostrea - day 7

Hi guys. Here the latest news from OSTREA.

We just passed the first 1000nm and the ship with her crew are doing perfect.

Although my son in law promised me a tradewind from max 15 knts,we mostly are sailing with more than 25 knots with increasing at night. So on daytime we use a boomed genoa with a 80% mainsail and at night only the genua without boom.

Except an overfilled (oil) generator we have no technical problems. We just passed our intended waypoint 20N/30W but we continue SW in the hope of finding more wind the next week. The idea of getting too little wind is for us unbelievable!

The crew is doing well, although the night has a lot of "turbulence". It is amazing to observe my grandchildren coping with the hammering ship and even doing their schoolwork under these conditions.

Yesterday the whole crew had a shower, first with seawater and at the end with warm sweet water made by these portable black sacs.

Fishing is going very well, but we catch till now only one type, til now 8 Mahi Mahis. Good taste but not what the kids expected. They wanted ready made sushis right from the sea.

Seasickness is after 2 days completely disappeared and we enjoy the oceanlife. Except the flying fishes and the caught fishes, we observed large swallowlike birds flying just above the sea. Are these äalscholvers"?

So, everything is OK here. Bye to all.

Jan Pameijer, father from Sabien and father in law from Pieter.
