Poespas - Day 5

Saturday, 01 December 2012, Day 5

Last night making good progress with genoa and mizzen sail fully unfurled going SSW averaging 7,5 knots. Early morning though we managed to find a deep hole all wind had disappeared into and it took us half an hour to paddle out of it.

The morning brought immaculate blue skies before it turned into its more normal shade of british grey, the wind much the same, but gusting up to 35 knots and I feel we need to go much further south to get the butter to melt.

Our kitchen fairies carry on coming up with all sorts of sailors delights: freshly baked bread at midnight, yummy bread pudding for lunch [says the bread pudding virgin] and the polish version of cabbage and onions for dinner…
Instrumental altitudes of the sun were taken at midday and after one of the many filters were removed one stopped wondering why there was sunshine without a sun.

The unlikely reader is kindly requested to read all this out aloud with a pronounced german accent.

Axel

You 'll be pleased to know that the leg of dried pig was still on the mizzen this morning looking ok

Two big squalls with 40 knot winds today but poespas deals with them well. Pod of Dolphins just turned up and had a short play. Took some sextant sights today but not sure how accurate I'll be with a four metre swell and 30 knot wind, I'll let you know……. Bet you can't wait..
All for now…. Mike….Over
