Today the Rally organised a trip to Taylors port wine lodge and the city of Porto. The trip around the port wine lodge was fascinating and Steve & John enjoyed the port tasting at the end of the tour! The city of Porto was also lovely. Our guide, Katerina, was excellent and very knowledgeable. However, after a hard day's sailing the day before and the late night due to the rescue of
Usquabae of Fife, we were all shattered and were also concerned about the tear in our sail.
When we returned from the tour, we got the sail down and Steve took it over to
Katerina, where Scott got out his sewing machine and did a fantastic repair. The marina staff at Povoa de Varzim had found us a small piece of spare sail material, which Scott used to do the repair. Scott's wife Julia then very kindly asked Steve, John and I to come round for dinner. We were treated to a delicious meal of gammon, roast potatoes, leeks and sweetcorn. We then had chocolate crepes for dessert :) We came away full and happy! We then collapsed into bed before our early morning alarm for the sail to Figueira da Foz.
