Murphy - The Crozon Peninsula - Îlot des Capucins

Rather than sitting in Camaret twiddling our thumbs, Andy and I have been busy making friends and seeing the sights. After a lovely dinner (and a little wine) with the good folk on Moonstream on Tuesday, we ended the night with a little rum and coffee (balance you see is everything) in Camaret's Irish pub (the Donegal), where we had the good fortune to meet Arnold and Uta (along with Eric and Christian, a local artist and drinker), a lovely German couple who invited us to dinner on Wednesday night at their holiday home in Camaret.

At said dinner (fabulous and enormous sea-bass, cooked in salt, spider crabs and smoked salmon - yummy) we met Steve (who entertained us all with his wonderful guitar and unleashed our inner Karaoke) and Rosemary, his wife - English neighbours - who then invited us on a tour of the Crozon peninsula this afternoon (Thursday). You see one thing leads to another. To cut a long story short we have had a great few days, despite the horrible drizzle and wind (though as I write this - 7pm Thursday -  the sun is shining) and made new friends, which is what sailing is all about.

But - what are we going to do tomorrow?

Andrew

PS the photo (see boat gallery pages on the rally gallery page) is of a Napoleonic fort, built on the Îlot des Capucins to protect the approaches to Brest and later adopted and adapted by the Germans (with some very large guns) to stop the Brits getting at their U-boat base in Brest. It reminded me of the Guns of Navarone.
