Wild Goose - Happy Anniversary to us!

Linda and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary exactly where we want to be; on the Wild Goose in the ocean. We sailed on our 2nd date on our Coronado 27' in 1987, and we sailed on our honeymoon in 1988. The water feels natural to us - even on those uncomfortable sleepless days like we had a few days ago.

We are about about 180 miles from Bermuda, and the wind is now from the South so we are able to go East today, which is good. Yesterday was one of the best sailing days I have ever had. 15-20 knot winds that allowed us to sail comfortably with all three sails up. Fun Fun.

We have been sailing near "Outer Limits" today. We got real close and took some pictures that I will post later. They are doing great and having fun too. We talked to "First Edition" today and I think they are about 25 miles ahead of us. They are doing fine.

Today is another great sail. We just reefed the Genoa to get the rails out of the water, but we are at 6.8 knos and making a course of about 70 degrees. If the wind shifts a little to the Southwest (200 degrees or so) we wilol have an easy ride into Bermuda.

We saw a "Bermuda Long-tail" a while ago. These are birds that come out to greet incoming boats, and this one came pretty early. I think we are 180 ,iles from Bermuda. We'll probably see more of then when we get closer. They make you feel welcomed. We haven't heard the Bermuda Harbor Radio on the VHF yet, but I remember last time that they can be heard from a long way off. You feel like you are there when you hear them, even though we still have a long way to go.

Hugh Moore (Nobody else will write a post. Somebody's gotta do it!)
