Ensemble - Day 121 (8 May 2012): Bora Bora

Greetings from yacht Ensemble.

Today we sailed from Raiatea to Bora Bora. Well - motored actually. We had some sail up for show - but the wind soon dropped from 10 knots to 6 knots - and we decided it was more important to arrive in good light than save the fuel.

This morning we went a local river through the jungle in the dinghy - very scenic - and bought a couple of coconuts.

Yesterday we'd had a frustrating day waiting for Dominique with the Honda outboard to show up. We had been waiting at the city wharf since midday. He wasn't answering his phone. At 3pm I finally called Laurent who managed to track Dominique down... Someone showed up at the marina only to tell us that the outboard wasn't ready as promised but would be on Wednesday (They'd had it since Friday and had promised it would be ready Monday morning). Laurent helpfully suggested that he would arrange to boat it over to Bora Bora for us - fingers crossed. We waited on the dock until 4:30pm and then left - the promised rigger never showed up....

The previous day we had our first official 'man over board' when Peter was trying to grab the mooring bouy. The boat hook caught - and in the end Peter dived over with sun glasses and hat! Unfortunately he wouldn't agree to re-enact the event for the cameras...

Tonight we go to 'Bloody Mary's' - hopefully it lives up to it's name.

Cheers

Dave & Magali
