Trillium - It's a Wild Ride

The ever shifting winds have kept us under sail for several days now. However, we haven't always been going in the direction we want. Fortunately, our longest tack was straight up th rhumb line! That is very unusual. At one point we were headed due east. Then the wind shifted to east-northeast giving us the opportunity to get back to the line. Now we are being pushed to the west of the line, so we are hoping for westerly winds before we get close to Bermuda.

The winds have been very strong and a bit squirrelly. One minute the rail is in the water and the next we are standing upright. Comfortable sleep has been a challenge. I found myself actually off the mattress and in the chair! Everyone has tried the settee or easy chairs at one time or another. At least the swells have been reasonable ranging from two to six feet most of the time. I am getting tired of living life at an angle! Especially when on a starboard tack. The galley sends everything my way whether I want it or not.

Aside from the heeling, everyone seems to be having a good time. And now we are 129 nm from Bermuda so we are anticipating an early Wednesday morning arrival if all continues go well and the wiind blows us there. As much as I am looking forward to being on land, I am dreading walking the gang plank at St. George's Club. The break before continuing to Hampton, VA is welcomed by all on board.

Sailing fast,
Skipperette (Sherry Day)
