Sapphire II - 2 April, Au Revoir to Paradise

We depart today for the 500 mile passage to Ahe, at the northeastern end of the Tuamotus archipelago.

We have seen so many beautiful sights over our 12 days in the magnificent Marquesas that words alone cannot describe what we've experienced.

The overriding memories are of the incredible bounty of nature at its most magnificent: fertile, fruitful, and floral. The bays we anchored in were wide, deep and with good holding, generally surrounded by high, emerald green peaks with masses of coconut palms on the lower slopes. The meals we have experienced in private homes and modest restaurants have been delightful. And perhaps most memorable have been the Polynesians, who are gentle and seemingly always smiling. And why wouldn't they. They live in a beautiful, natural, unspoiled paradise.

Sad to leave, certainly. But promises of more enchanting experiences ahead!
