Kathryn's dog bite did in fact become infected and we took her to the hospital here in Nuku Hiva. We were given an assortment of medicine to cure the infection and advised to delay our departure a couple of days to confirm the medications are working. We now plan to depart Wednesday for Tuamotu's.
The hospital experience was interesting, there is no charge for visitors if the problem being treated originated while in French Polynesia. For pre-existing conditions you are required to pay in advance for treatment or repatriated to your home country using the bond each of us had to post for a one way air ticket back home!
We spent the entire afternoon yesterday refueling our boat and assisting SOPHIE and SAMSARA refuel also. The fuel facility is designed for large ships and pleasure craft are not a priority. The large swell in the harbor made accessing the ships' dock very difficult but we all got the fuel we needed and suffered no damage to our boats.
We will complete our provisioning today, we may rent a car to tour the island. We've had some very nice meals ashore in the small restaurants and look forward to crepes for lunch again.
