Crazy Horse - April 12, 2011

We can now see St. Lucia. It has been more than a year that we started from here on our journey around the world. It seems like a short time ago now, but while we were just starting out it seemed like an eternal time and we would never get through it all. The list of places that we were to stop seemed like forever. Now we have completed all the stops and are back in the beginning of our circle. All the people we have met and vistas we have been privileged to view has been amazing.

Yesterday we went out to lunch with Chessie and Jim and Annie and Anna from Basia. I had a few little moments of sadness as I sat with them all. We have all been through a lot together. The joy, frustration, anger, fear, anxiety, and wonder has all been a part of the journey. We had a great lunch and determined that we would not let our friendship end. I think we have made lots of new friends that we will visit and will visit us in the Chesapeake Bay. We all hope to have some reunions at some of the places we have visited. But we still have to process the beginning , middle , and end of this journey. I know that I have grown immensely since we started in Hampton, Va. As a crew we have learned much about each other, how to sail together, and how to adapt, overcome, and improvise.

Anna is very excited to see her sister Cat who is coming today by plane. We are on a mission to get her into the marina and hotel and not waste a minute of their time together.I know how important it was to me to be there in Grenada when my sister, Maryann, arrived only a couple of weeks ago. Anna's parents, Basia and Michael are coming to St. Lucia by way of Tucanon (sailboat) from Grenada on the 14th. I am sure they will all have a very emotional family reunion.

Don't know how long I will have this blog site once April 16 comes around. But I have a feeling this writer is coming to the end of her journey. The story will go on but this particular journey is near to being done. We have just under 10 miles to go to St. Lucia. Leaving these people we have met will be as difficult as it was to leave our friends and family as we began our trip. Everything has come full circle. As so it is.
