Crazy Horse - March 19

Our position 1105 UTC 8 39.N 54 31.W

I write this on Sat. morning after just getting off my watch. What a beautiful night with the moon shimmering on the ocean. We sailed beautifully going 8-9kts at about 90-120Deg. Our heading was 320. We are just about on the rhomb line to Grenada. We are about 476 miles from Grenada. So far if the winds hold we should be there before my sis. That will give us some time to get Crazy Horse into the marina and figure out if we can pull her out to get some work done there.

The excitement is building on many fronts. For one, we are closing in on the last leg of this rally. Second, this is the last of one of the longest legs we have faced. Third, there is the possibility that Basia and the others who are aiding her will all make it to the rendezvous in Grenada. Fourth, that we will have some time for rest and relaxation , see my sis, get some work done on the Crazy Horse so that she will be shining in all her glory crossing the finish line in St. Lucia. And lastly, we have the prospect of a wonderful wedding as a closer to this wild wonderful year of adventure.

All seems to be going well on the home front. I talked to both Eric and Lisa and they are working hard and also excited about the ending of our journey. The fact that Eric, Karrie, Elaine, and Chuck will be there in St. Lucia to help us celebrate the end of this rally is so exciting to us. They have all been so instrumental in helping us complete this adventure. We couldn't have done this trip without them and Lisa taking care of the home and pets and all that includes.

So I guess this means the mood is pretty good on the Crazy Horse today. I think the fact that we put one more reef in the main has helped with my attitude. It was just so wild trying to move around with the wild jerking movement of the boat. Now we are moving better with almost as much speed but with a much smoother movement. It was a struggle to convince Matt and Bill we would go just as fast with a little more reef. If they would only remember that motto I have in my kitchen at home. "If we can keep mamma happy, then everybody's is happy". It is a good motto- if only it were true. But it can surely help on a small boat! At least if it keeps me upright without crashing into walls, I am happier.

We may not be able to talk to all our friends on SSB anymore because of the distance between us. But we are still keeping in touch via email. It is the only way we can keep in touch with some folks and it is supportive to know where everyone is located. Perhaps if Eowyn hadn't emailed the fleet about the collision, Eowyn and the others couldn't have gotten there as quickly to plug up their holes and offer them assistance.

So we have much to be thankful for this morning.

Rosemary, Bill and Matt
