Crazy Horse - March 1

We are motoring up the coast right now about 152 miles from Recife. We have had the wind on our nose the whole way. We have tried to sail, motorsail, and combinations. The wind is just not cooperating with our course. Hopefully when we all take off for the next leg the wind will improve. Thought we were supposed to have SE winds for this time of year. We are getting them from the north.

Chessie is about 7 miles inshore of us. We have been staying in contact with them by VHF or SSB the whole way. So far we have not seen any fishing vessels. I did however, see a fishing buoy out here and I am not sure it doesn't have some net attached to it. So we are keeping our eyes open for nets, vessels, and ships. This seems to be the same issue we had off the coast of Ecuador but those fishermen were at least a hundred miles offshore. They were pretty brave to be out there in their small open skiffs.

OJ is a little behind us since they left a little later than our 10am start on Mon. Jim was changing the oil on the generator and some other maintenance. Guess the OJ boat was partying too much and didn't get their chores done.

Everything else seems to be going well with the boat and crew. We are reading and listening to music again and catching our naps. The first night we didn't get much sleep because it was quite rough with the wind on our nose and lots of slamming into the waves was happening. So things have calmed down since then. We are just waiting for a breeze to carry us to Recife.

Time for breakie. Smells good with Matt at the stove. We have fried potatoes with onions and ham, and over easy eggs. We still seem to be eating fine on the Crazy Horse.

Rosemary, Bill, and Matt
