Crazy Horse - Jan 8 in am

Today is the day the World ARC officially starts the next leg of the rally which ultimately ends in Salvador. Then we cruise around Brazil for about a month. This should be a good sailing leg with some good downwind sailing. But, Crazy Horse is not ready to go due to Visas and a burned starter to repair.

These two things make it impossible for us to leave until Tues.or Wed. Today we and the crew of Ocean Jasper (OJ) will drive up to Hout Bay and bid them all bon voyage. It will be sad to not be with them all but we will meet up with some in St. Helena and others in Brazil. We all hope to see some other sights along the way to Hout Bay. We hope to see the penguins? and the baboons by Cape Point.

Yesterday Matt made some headway in cleaning and polishing the outside of the CH. The starter repair should be fixed by Mon. We hope to have all the Visas and customs work done by Tues. Last night Heidi and Casey and a new crew member of theirs named Stuart came by to say hi and catch up on news about Bill's little accident which happened on his way to Hout Bay on Thurs. night. They all just returned from the states and will be leaving for the next leg today. Seems like us, they are ready for the next leg to get on with and excited about the Amazon.

WE just returned from the start of the leg to St. Helena and all went well. Chessie, Kalliope, Ocean Jasper, and Crazy Horse are the only no starts. We will all get off within the next couple of days due to the work being done and visa issues. Jenny from Tzagine said this is the first time in 6 years of ocean sailing that they didn't have a major problem between a leg to attend to. Just shows you how hard this sailing is on the boat and the crew.

Rosemary, Bill, and Matt
