Cleone - Fw: CLEONE Leg 15 Day 1 - Very Little or No Wind at All

If yesterday's weather picture was confused, today's is not.  No-one in the fleet reported more than 5 knots of wind.

And to put this in perspective, Kealoha was chatting to an Oil Rig Support Vessel, and they said it has been like this for a week, and there is no sign of any more wind to come!  However, Bruce, whose next forecast should be with us when this e-mail goes out, may have something different for us, at least I hope so.  Otherwise, the dear old Yanmar will be doing even more of its stuff than it's done so far - it has hammered out 17 hours at 1750 rpm during the last 24 hours, and there is no sign of any wind anywhere.  It's weird.

Cleone's crisp new yellowish-white sails lie neatly folded on her booms or equally neatly rolled around the forestay, and apart from a slight roll, the sea is calm.  Only the odd curious dolphin enlivens our progress, though the Skipper did notice a nasty patch of emulsified crude oil in the water, coincidently as he was being careful not to spill diesel whilst topping up Cleone's fuel-tank.

At the moment, Alex is deeply in thought - he's taking his responsibilities as Duty Cook seriously.  Norfy is using one finger on each hand to sort out an e-mail or two, and the Skipper is trying to think up a list of Things That Must Be Done.  This last is a no brainer (should suit him then - Ed) as the place is a tip (akin to AGA's room at GM if anyone was wondering what that meant) and a good tidy and clean up should be high on the list.

All well with us, and best wishes to everyone
James, Norfy (Chris) and Alex
