Jus'Do It 3 - Sunday 20th

Sunday 20th July

As it’s Sunday everything is very quiet and closed at this end of town. Everyone gets up and wanders in different directions for a while , then after getting a few boat job done the full crew decide to head over to Bay de Citron for Sunday lunch. Just before leaving Annie gets a reply to one of the weather requests she has sent- it’s not looking good as Bob McDavit the weather man advises not attempting a crossing to Oz until 30th July due to gales forecast for the Queensland coast. This is going to be a problem for Kevin (who’s due to fly home from Sydney on 31st July) and Stewy (who hopes to be flying over to Perth to see his son Andrew by then). Regardless of this, we all agree we will not leave until the forecast is good, no matter how long that takes. If necessary, the remaining four crew will manage although it’s disappointing not everyone is able to complete their voyage.  Once we’ve finished our main courses Alex announces she’s off on a mission but will be back before we leave. She’s acting mysteriously, and we all have our own guesses as to what she’s up to…emailing ? buying us ice-creams?  However, as soon as we leave the restaurant she pulls Annie and Ian to one side and presents them with a booking for tonight in the best hotel in Noumea. Ian and Annie are absolutely gob-smacked as she explains they have a night in a suite with a bath, a spa treatment and a bottle of wine in the room !  Annie can’t wait to get there and is racing towards the hotel so as not to waste a minute of this absolute treat. The suite is bigger than Annie and Ian’s old flat; it has a living room, a kitchen, a huge balcony and a sea view from the 17th floor . Later everyone meets for a few drinks at the marina bar. Alex is staying on the boat to sort out her photos – she discovers a photo of Jus’do it she took in Tahiti before we all met. Stewy and Kevin go off for a meal and some beers while Ian, Annie and Phil have a light meal in the revolving restaurant at the top of their hotel – Phil’s decided to treat himself to a hotel room too.
