Andante of Mersey - Vanuatu Onwards

No we havent sunk - we are still firing on all cylinders except the communication one.  Currently we are 24 hours out of Vanuatu on route to Mackay in Queensland.  The journey started as usual with very rough seas and gale force gusts. Dawn brought sunshine and we've managed to pole out the genny which has steadied the boat so things are looking up. Ann's in the galley preparing the evening meal which is always a good sign! Should be in Aussie in 7days.
Vanuatu used to be a French/British condominion called the New Hebridies.  In 1980 it got its independence.  We visited two of the many islands Tanna with its live volcano and Port Vila the capital. In Tanna we spent alot of time in the local village - meeting the chief, gift exchanging, feasting, dancing and of course knocking back the old Kava. We went to the volcano at sunset and watched the red hot lava shooting up above us-well nearly. In Port Vila we made our own entertainment with the  20 or so other crews.  Bob and Petra(skipper of Viva) threw a lavish early evening birthday drinks party for us all. Ann nd Keith
Its sad but some of the fleet are leaving us in Aussie - we have made so many good friends - we will miss them. Love to you all - we miss you even more.
PS We really do appreciate news-you can all reply if you wish-just send a 'new' message not the 'reply' method
