Hot Stuff - The Tales of Nine - Weed paranoia

"The sails are white,
the hull is grey,
Hot Stuff is sailing great today.
The waves are high,
the waves are low,
we did have 2800 miles to go.
With the sun on our backs,
and the wind in our hair,
our jolly crew is nearly there.
Saint Lucia is beautiful,
we will drink a cocktail
with a toast to the experience
with Girls for Sail."
Warming up for the Hot Stuff Oscars tomorrow night, we have just tuned out of SEA&SKY TV with a fun filled evening of 'Hot Stuff's Got Talent'. (as if you didn't already know!)
Our three watch groups wowed the audience. The 'Wind Chasers' kicked off the show with 'The Mystical Monkeys' showing us their mind blowing card tricks, palm readings and personality analysis through handwriting. Our crazy 'Diamonds in the Rough' revealed what has really been going on during their night watches with their "Diamonds are Forever" gangster rap. DJ JC got down with da kids innit! Last up was the lovely 'Star Gazers' who got us all up and moving with a fitness on-board routine, having us squatting with jib sheets, grinding on winches, sit ups on the coach roof and lunges at the helm with music pumping and endorphins rushing. They also wrote and recited the poem at the start of this blog, which made us all smile with an emotional tear drop in our eye as our journey nears to an end.
It's just starting to feel real - we are actually sailing in the Atlantic Ocean. Oh no ... wait ... we have just sailed 2500 miles of the Atlantic and can almost smell the sweet Jerk chicken from 'the Caribbean man' (said in Caribbean style voice) eeek!!!
The fleet are closing in around us as for the first time in a week we can see the sails of another wee sailing boat - three in fact. You can sense the excitement from all our maidens as we only have days left of our Atlantic adventure.
The last few days have not gone without their own events. We have been sailing through the Atlantic Amazon Rainforest for sure. Squall after squall for the Wind Chasers - renamed the wet watch - with howling winds and buckets of monsoon like rain. There has been a disease spreading round this new humid atmosphere on-board - 'weed paranoia'. What was a crystal clear blue ocean now has more resemblance to the swampy banks of the Amazon with floating piles of weed as far as the eye can sea - Life of Pie esque. As we slow down by a knot or two and there is a little quiver on the helm the watch team loses valuable points in the on-going game 'Dodge the Weed'. Hot Stuff has been living up to her name as all the seaweed just loves to curl up with her rudder upsetting our poor Hot Stuff's attempt at a 7 knot average. Note to self - blame every slow day on our crossing to floating weed madness.
Another beautiful sunset surrounds us. Your nine fair maidens feel even more united than ever. This day and this adventure may be gradually coming to an end but our memories are never going away. Feeling blessed. Good night world beyond the sea and our fibreglass walls!
