Aglaia -

What can I say about the last 24 hours then? Halfway point came and went very quickly with us now having just 1202 miles remaining to run having covered nearly 250 miles over that time. Now without a mainsail and just using two poled out headsails in 25 knots of wind we were very happy to spend the night surfing down waves at 15 knots and an over 10 knot average speed.

Back to the halfway party now, as ever a very special meal was prepared and devoured in record time with eyes darting left and right to see who might not manage to finish the mountain of food in front of them. Marinated breast of chicken with herb crush potatoes and roasted Mediterranean vegatables followed by freshly baked rich chocolate cake. Luckily the sailing was very exciting through the night or we would have all passed out with food coma.

The night was one of those perfect trade wind sailing experience with crystal clear sky, even but large following wave, silver blue moon light and walls of spray being pushed aside as Aglaia launched herself down another wave. It has definitely left a lasting impression on our crew.

By lunchtime today the winds eased significantly and it feels the 7 knots of boat speed we are managing out of 12 knots of true wind sailing deep downwind feels like we've stopped! Going to throw the first ETA in now, late afternoon on the 10th December... so things are now likely to either get very slow or very fast as my forecasting of these things is well known to be wildly out.

To any family and friends of the crew, one of our messaging systems is doing strange things over the last few days and multiple sending message or just not sending at all, same with messages received. Everyone well onboard, eating too much and to the distain of Scott our chef are talking not of looking forward to a juicy steak or lobster but rather deep fried unhealthy junk food! You all might need to think about a pre Christmas Diet for them when they make it home.

Until tomorrow
