Monomotapa - Monomotapa

Monomotapa 29 November

This night we got our first catch of flying fish on the deck. We still have much food on board so no one wanted to cook them. Apparently your fingers smell badly for a number of hours after touching them.

The night was cloudy and at some points rainy. One of the watches had a squall which gave them good practice. The wind was gusting up to more than 30 knots and the direction was continuously changing, we had to reef down (reduce sail area) for the main sail and genoa to ensure that the boat was nder full control.
This morning we have fair winds at a good angle which gives us an average speed of around 8 kn/hour over ground. We have now sailed 5 days and in about another 3 hours, one third of the distance is sailed. That leaves 1840 nm to go. If we can keep up this pace, then some of us will have a couple of days to see St Lucia before coming back to the work and the cold weather.

The Atlantic ocean is big and we haven't seen any other ships on the horizon or on the AIS for a couple of days
