Euphoria - Log Day 4 – Alone at Sea
Dear Blog,
Routines are
becoming more solid as we enter the second half of our first week aboard. Today,
our lunch was inspired by the great Chicken Tortillas success yesterday. This
time the Tortillas were served with anchovies, sardines, eggs and numerous
vegetables. Success once again!
One particularly important routine is to
download and analyze the fleet position file. Today, the whole crew was
anxiously waiting for these results and expectations were high. They were also
confirmed as it became clear that we have now moved up to a second place in our
class. We had to remind ourselves that although we have succeeded quite well so
far, there is still a long long way to go and many things will happen before we
arrive in Saint Lucia.
This is the first night with no other boats in sight.
Although we know there are other boats out there it is a special feeling to be
completely on our own on this small vessel floating around in this huge ocean.
And although we have some limited connections with the real world, we are in
many ways completely reliant upon each other here aboard Euphoria.
Finally,
no Ukulele today, we have had quite a rough ride so further practicing will have
to wait until conditions become somewhat calmer. These days will come
also.
The Skipper
