EH01 - Sun is shining, Weather is sweet!!

Hi Everyone,

Another busy past 24 hours on board EH01! As the sun set last night the
latest forecast we had received indicated that the wind was going to head to
the north and blow 20-25 knots. At that time we were currently reaching
along nicely with the wind on the beam and making an average 9 knots over
the ground. We were left with the decision of whether to reef early to make
life easier in the night, or take the gamble and reef when the stronger
breeze appeared. We decided it was better to reef early and went into the
night under our number 2 headsail and 2 reefs in the main. Thankfully the
big breeze did arrive at 0200 this morning and blew until the sun rose. As
soon as it backed down again to 15 knots we shook both reefs out and hoisted
the fractional spinnaker. We have had beautiful reaching conditions all day
with the sun shining and a steady 15-20 knots of breeze.

Looking to the next 24 hours the breeze is set to head to the north again,
so we are going to take a bit of a hitch south which will provide us with
great boat speed and then over the weekend it is set to veer back around to
the east. With a fresh easterly breeze we should be able lay our mark to the
north of St Lucia and have a good blast westwards under spinnaker... Well
that's the plan anyway !! Fingers crossed..

After receiving the latest fleet position report this morning we feel like
we are in a great position to keep pushing to try and crack into that top 5
of our class and hopefully the racing fleet overall!

The atmosphere on board is great, the whole crew are currently sat on deck
enjoying the sunshine on the rail whilst blasting out AC/DC. Another
fantastic meal cooked last night and a great lunch today has kept everyone
in good spirits! I think everyone has finally cracked into the baby wipes
today as everyone is walking around smelling that little bit fresher!!

The whole crew send their regards to their families! That's all for now,

Nick and crew
