5/24:

Turned out to be another good sailing day. Last night's shift ended up with confused seas caused by wind against current. After a while things settle down and we had 15knts of wind abaft of beam so we could run wing on wing. Main held out to port and secured with a preventer and the Genoa polled out to starboard. Didn't make fantastic time but the boat had a comfortable motion in rather heavy swells. Today's speed and distance numbers weren't as impressive as yesterday's but still good. All under warm temperatures and sun shine.

A half dozen dolphins swam in our bow wake for about 30 minutes at sunset. We were doing about 5.8 knts at the time. They moved effortlessly back and forth our bow without seeming to move a muscle. They first approached the boat from the port side jumping whole body and several feet out of the water. Sure looked like play to me.

Tonight like many nights our wake stirs up the phosphorescence causing a trail of light that is cool to watch. In fact, if I flush the head with the lights out the bowl is sometimes washed with these energized organisms.
One of those thinks you just don't get to see at home.

Ken
