Webster - Pre start high jinx

Friday 2nd May: position still in Nanny Cay

Thursday evening turned into a bit of a blast with the farewell dinner taking place. Team Webster turned out in all their glory wearing our out of the packet pristine polo shirts but arrived about two and a half hours early for the start, time which was put to very good use going through the cocktail menu with beer chasers. I for one was feeling no pain in short shift, mainly because of the Painkillers Ken was supplying us with. As it was his last evening before flying home he was in "frenzy" mode and ordering more than we could drink faster than we could drink it. By 7 pm I was swaying a little that's for sure.

The Caribbean meal was excellent but seemed to give one a thirst so back to the beach bar we went and batted on leading to seeing just how many of us we could pile on top of one another with me on the bottom - six it would seem, followed by a few of us jumping into the sea with the same clothes we were born in to cool off. Who was the WCC staff member taking photos either for the WCC site ( I doubt Andrew Bishop would allow this through the sensor), or to put on Facebook, or perhaps to blackmail us into behaving ourselves? Never mind, it's no big thing.

Friday morning brought our just rewards and the day started very slowly. Declarations, Customs clear outs and Skippers briefings had to be attended to as did the trip to the supermarket in Road Town to buy provisions. Dave and Neal carried out a deep clean inside and out and the boat stank of bleach.

Conversation has been a bit stilted today but this is either a result of last night or the pressure of the start building, or the effects of the choline gas from a boatful of bleach! Only a few hours to go now and we are off....... Still can't believe it!

Weather forecast looking light and variable. We shall have to see what is in store when we get out there. Certainly feeling I want to get under way.
