Hot Stuff - Fairies of the lost ARC - The final chapter

Fairies of the lost ARC - The final chapter

Time to reflect on what can only be described as an epic voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.

The sense of achievement is overwhelming - we have come so far. Las Palmas to Rodney Bay is such a vast distance it is hard to put it into perspective - but all nine of us have also taken our own epic journeys physically, mentally and emotionally and are still standing to tell the tale. That in itself is enough.

We couldn't have had a better ending to our epic story. Thank you to everyone who met us on the dock, to the boys of 'z pontoon' for driving out in their half sinking dinghy with a crate of beer in tow, and to the ARC organisers for making it such a smooth entry. What followed after that is a little hazy but let's just say we did it in true Hot Stuff style.

None of this would have happened in the style and grace that it did without the support and love from all our friends, family and colleagues. So we want to dedicate  our last blog to show our gratitude and love for all the people we have encountered on our - yes we are going to say it again - epic voyage.

Special mentions have to go to:

Andrew bishop and all the arc team for their support and kindness, and generosity of their time and knowledge both in Las Palmas and throughout the last three weeks.

Annie and Tash and all the Girls for Sail shore crew for helping prepare for our journey, and supporting us throughout. Annie, without girlsforsail and all it stands for nine fairies would never have been able to complete - yes for the last time - this epic voyage.

Our families and friends. We felt your presence through every hardship, every night of bad weather, through the squalls, storms, lightning and crashing waves, through the endless hours of a wind hole and through our own personal everyday challenges in the galley, heads and in our bunks.

To all the boats travelling on from St Lucia we wish you fair winds and a safe passage.

With love and all our fairy dust that we have left. We hope you have enjoyed reading our blogs as much as we have enjoyed writing them.

Nikki, Emma, Sarah, Karen, Claire, Jo, Tricia, Charlotte and Sue.

The finish!
