Second Wind - Double Dip and Recovery

Double Dip and Recovery

A couple of days back we celebrated reaching the half way point of what has become a 2900 mile journey. As serendipity would have it, we reached this questionable point at the very same time as one of those unseasonable lows! This was in fact a benefit as the dip in the wind facilitated our celebratory dip in the ocean. With a drogue trailed from the back of the boat and the bathing steps down to avoid playing out that film ( which we all know but can't remember the name of) we all plunged into a glassy smooth, warm blue ocean.

All safely recovered and refreshed, we looked ,forward to our celebratory glass of Champagne however the Purser, who has since been Keel Hauled, had neglected to store it in the Fridge. Since warm Champagne is just not on, we settled for a glass of Red Wine, with the Champagne now in e fridge awaiting the "One Thousand Miles to Go" celebration.

As to the recovery, after several more hours of motoring we picked up an unseasonal head wind allowing us 24 hours of close hauled sailing during which we covered 146 miles. Result!
