Defyr - Day Five: From head wind to no wind

Yesterday and last night we got moderate head wind around 6-8m/s and we were able to sail nicely and fast! During the night it started to drop and our course was getting worse. My dad, the captain, wanted to start the engines even though me and Fredrik would have much rather floated towards Saint Lucia than burn fossil fuels. Oh well, got to respect the skipper and do as he demands! So we've been propelling towards our goal since 7.00. Fredrik, Tuomas and me threw coins in the sea, since that is suppose to bring winds. We'll see.

Now that there's not much to do with sailing we have all taken a cold shower, which has been amazing. The crew smells now more like roses than old cheese, GREAT! We also vacuum cleaned inside and washed the floors and toilets and made some extra fresh food.

We've also gotten a lot of answers to our pop quiz that was send out to all boats. Thank you for that! We have couple of boats that scored 10/10. There will be two more quizzes coming up, movies and TV. The winner in each category is announced plus the winner of all categories counted together.

It's now been four full days on sea and with positive calculation of twenty days in total, we have now done already fifth of the leg! That's 20%, it's like we are almost there! When I look at our food supply, we have maybe used 2% of everything... Little bit of overkill there. Or maybe we have been just too excited about ARC Europe and done the provisioning for that rally as well.

We also started fishing today. Haven't caught anything yet.
