Merlyn III - Day 2

We had a rather difficult first night with hopeless winds and at times managed barely two and a half knots. The weather patterns have been disturbed by some big storms in the Northern Atlantic which has displaced the Azores High. However, things have greatly improved  and are presently sailing with a poled out jib and main on the preventer downwind. We have been averaging around 7.5 knots although the wind drops at night. We have around 165 miles on the log; still quite a long way to go.

Last night crew morale was greatly improved by a delicious fish stew created by Jonathan and tonight David produced an excellent spicy Sheppard's pie.

So far we have had no technical problems with the boat and all is well.

The attached photo shows a small proportion of the food supplies organized by Iain. In my opinion we could easily survive for a month!
