Swan Valhalla - Log 2 - one tequila, two tequila, three tequila...FLOOR!

Sam headed out on Tuesday morning to get some very large croissants as our fuel for the day. He and Haig had various jobs on the boat including fixing the Garmin and starting to fix the boom which according to Haig 'needed a new bush'! Whilst the boys were doing 'blue' jobs Victoria and I went to set up our first blog post in the Sailors Bar which is fast becoming a regular hangout for its speedy wifi connection!

In the evening it was our turn (those boats with names beginning L-Z) for our crew supper at Restaurant Embarcadero. We were greeted by a fruity glass of sangria and a heavy downpour of rain before we headed inside to be seated. We sat next to some friendly Dutch men and an American couple who told us that they have lived on their boat for 4 1/2 years - very impressive! We ate a delicious three course meal, drank a large amount of wine and of course headed for a night cap at the Sailors Bar with the Americans. Victoria and I ordered some Grand Marnier which to our surprise arrived in a glass the size of a small fishbowl. We did manage to polish it off, with a little help from Skipper Sam!

Wednesday bought some welcome sunshine and a temperature of about 25. Haig's first job was to be winched up the mast to attach padding onto the spreaders to protect the main sail. He did a very neat job with great precision which took him a good hour - I'm not sure he had much feeling in his toes when he came back down. After a cup of coffee he was back up again to fix the deck floodlight. I think he was slightly unnerved when Victoria decided now was the time to get her large Canon SLR and take some action shots of Haig's back end!

Whilst the boys did various other jobs on the boat, Victoria and I decided to hit the local Club Nautico, which is kitted out with a large salt water swimming pool, sauna, gym and restaurant. We lounged by the pool and had a nice relax in the jacuzzi before it began to cloud over. After some delicious tapas we began to feel rather guilty that the boys were working away so we headed back to the boat and sure enough found Sam and Haig hard at work servicing the generator.

The real excitement for the evening was the Fantasy World costume party at the Marina Club, particularly after we had had a private preview of Skipper Sam's outfit (..don't worry, photos to follow). Even more excitingly we were now going to be a crew of six as Yoyo and Matt arrived just in time for some G and Ts. They were also particularly hungry after their flight so went to grab a bite to eat whilst the rest of us prepped our fancy dress outfits. Sam's was particularly special having borrowed Victoria's Union Jack dress and a Brian May style wig. We made our way to the party, where we were given yet more sangria and bumped into a few people who we had met previously. There was some cracking eighties and nineties music being played, which Haig and I knew pretty much all the lyrics too - luckily it was loud enough so no one could actually hear us singing! There were some very dodgy dance moves going down and everyone had a very fun night - probably helped by the numerous tequila shots! After staggering back to the boat it was a bit of a challenge to get one particular crew member back on board (no names mentioned), and once we managed to, this person promptly passed out on deck and stayed there until 10am!

There were a lot of heavy heads this morning, and cold showers were a very brutal wake up. Yoyo, Victoria and I headed to Corte Ingles to check out the supermarket, but as our hangovers became too much we decided to leave the main bit of food shopping until tomorrow. Hopefully we will all be in full recovery after a crew supper and early night tonight - no tequila allowed!
