Imagine - All at sea Tuesday 4th June

Blimey, it's dark out here at night. The AIS is full of ships deliberately heading straight at me. It looks a lot better when I alter the scale and realise the nearest one is 5 miles away. We slowed down a bit last night. Consistent speeds over 8 knots and touching 10 were a bit hairy even in day light. Apart from the autopilot thinking it was beneath him (her?) to steer the boat we've had no major problems. Other boats are reporting tearing 'canvass' and we wonder if there's a square rigger in the fleet with Lord Nelson in command. Jonathan claims to have seen a dolphin; the sighting has not been verified. Jonathan has heard by text this morning that his daughter Caroline has got engaged. Congratulations. I wonder why your future son-in-law, Michael, has waited until you are 20 miles from land before popping the question. In daylight all the ships seem to have disappeared and we have the ocean to ourselves. Keep in touch and all donations to tghe watermaker repair fund gratefully received. David
