Amelie d'Oslo - A loot of fish!

Ave Gladiators and Oracles!

Another eventful day at the sea! Waking up this morning, the sun was shining with a nice breeze from south south east, so we had a good speed the first half of the day before the wind decided not to blow (for us) anymore.

Just after breakfast we caught the first fish of the trip! We getting worried that this big ocean didn’t have any fishes left, maybe due to global warming, or a nuclear war that we are not yet aware of. Or just maybe either Amelie or Per had some sort of curse put upon their fishing activities. But our thoughts have now been proven wrong. As soon as Richard wrestled this 7 lb tuna-like Dorado thing on board (it was not in a can for those of you land crabs that believe tuna is born in a can), Kasper proved himself brave enough to slaughter this, at that time, wobbly piece of dinner, using a bread knife. To an urban New Yorker, Jake was fascinated that it took very little time before it was cooked and served up in the warm North Atlantic sun in the cockpit.Kasper's cooking abilities have been coming on in leaps and bounds, but we all try hard not to give him too much opportunity to brag too much about it. We all agreed that the Dorado tasted great, but was there something fishy about it? We will examine the holding tank tomorrow and let you know.

Minutes after the excitement started to cool of, a delegation of whales decided to cut us of. You might think it wierd that four huge living submarines have to pass in front of Amelie out here where there is probably ten megazillion other routes that they can choose. Well we though that too. But seeing this huge animals (if I’m not mistaken they are not a fish, although to me they look like a very big fish) pass right in front of our boat was amazing. As we could not distinguish any bad smell (other then our self) we concluded that Mum and Daddy whale has done a good job teaching son and daughter whale to rinse their breathing hole.

You might think the crazy events of our day was over, well think again! After a while a gang of dolphins came the exact same way as the whales had just some time ago. We were a bit less concerned as a crashing with a dolphin won’t do as much harm to the boat as crashing with a whale. Again we were really stoked, and counted around 20 dolphins in they dolphin pack.

We can also report that our captain Skip-Per is feeling much better after being sick yesterday.

Have a great start on your weekend, we believe it might be the best weekend in the rest of your life!
